Love and Respect

On Facebook, Wilma Russell Duncan pointed me to this website. Geared towards Christian marriages, the particular blog talks about the language of love and respect.  The contributing writer Whitney Hopler points out:

"Even when your spouse doesn't respond well to your efforts to give love and respect, God will reward your efforts by blessing you.  Keep in mind that by giving your spouse love and respect, you're actually serving and honoring God in the process.  So keep doing what's right, regardless of how your spouse responds, and know that God notices and will bless you for your efforts."

I agree with her; when you take yourself and pride out of the situation, it shows that you're trusting God and allowing Him to do the work. For those who don't have a personal relationship with God, this concept is very foreign and doesn't make sense. The peace that comes from this knowing that although things don't turn out how you want, God is always in control and is at work to reveal the wonder of His character to us.
